MOTAC Endorses MCCGB to Represent Malaysia in Promoting Culture and Products in China Through RCEP

PUTRAJAYA, 4 July 2025 — The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has officially expressed its full support for the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Global Business (MCCGB) to represent Malaysia under the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), particularly in promoting Malaysian products, culture, and services in the Chinese market.

The support was conveyed in an official letter dated 4 July 2025, signed by MOTAC Secretary General, YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, and addressed to MCCGB President, YBhg. Datuk Jeffery Lau.

According to the letter, MOTAC welcomes the initiative by MCCGB and emphasizes that all involvement under the RCEP framework must strictly comply with existing rules and regulations.

“MCCGB’s participation is expected to enhance the promotion of Malaysia’s tourism products abroad and contribute to increasing international tourist arrivals to the country,” the letter stated.

The RCEP is the world’s largest free trade agreement, comprising 15 Asia-Pacific countries including China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN member states. MCCGB’s involvement in this initiative is seen as a strategic opportunity to elevate Malaysia’s cultural heritage and local products to the global stage, especially in the high-potential Chinese market.

MOTAC further highlighted that this initiative aligns with the national agenda to position tourism and cultural industries as key drivers of unity and sustainable economic growth
